Durban North resident assaulted in home invasion

During a violent house invasion a resident was struck over the head.

A DURBAN North resident was assaulted during a home invasion in Marine View Avenue on Sunday at about 3pm. According to Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, three armed robbers driving a gold Mercedes Benz and a second dark-coloured vehicle burst onto the property.

“The robbers derailed the driveway gate and forced open the front door while the resident’s son was inside, watching television in the lounge. The men burst in and held him up at gunpoint before locking him in the bathroom. The robbers hit the victim on the head with the firearm,” he said.

Jackson said the men fled in the two cars with televisions, safes, a laptop, a firearm and cash.

Greenwood Park SAPS and Durban North/Umhlanga Crisis Centre staff attended the scene of the crime.
