Armed robbers target local bank users

Local security company warns of gang targeting bank customers.

A GANG of armed robbers driving a silver Vovlo have struck again, this time targeting a Riverhorse Valley bank customer who they followed and robbed at gunpoint.

Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, said the gang had followed the employee of a business in River Horse Close after he had drawn a large sum of cash at the bank just before 11am on Friday.

“The employee realised that he was being followed by the time he got back to the business premises where the gang of four men held him up at gunpoint and robbed him of the cash,” he said.

Jackson said the robbery was the third such incident over the past week.

He advised bank customers and business owners to rather use EFT payments if possible and to be aware of their surroundings when drawing cash.

“Criminals observe the movements and routines of their victims closely but crimes are also often opportunistic.

“A good defence against becoming a target is to always be aware of your surroundings and the people around you, especially in potentially vulnerable circumstances,” he said.
