Firefighters battle Sea Cow Lake settlement blaze
A major shack fire that has torn through the Sea Cow Lake informal settlement.
FIREFIGHTERS are battling a fire at an informal settlement opposite NCP in Sea Cow Lake. Traffic on Sea Cow Lake Road, in the direction of North Coast (Chris Hani) Road is heavy and the road has been temporarily closed while the fire is being fought.
Billowing clouds of smoke can be seen towering above the settlement. According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the fire had spread very quickly.
He added that at this stage the cause of the fire was unknown.
