Tennis club hosts family fun day
Local tennis club hopes to attract more members through Fun Day.
THE La Lucia Tennis Club hosted a Family Fun Day on Saturday, 30 May. The event is held four times a year in the hopes of not only bringing families together but also fostering a love for the game of tennis. Veronica Raaff, a longtime member of the club, said the day was a resounding success.
“We have adults and children playing on the same court at the same time, and it’s just a wonderful day for everyone to interact and have fun,” she explained. While there has been a drop in the numbers of members at tennis clubs around Durban North in years gone by, Raaff says the numbers have increased at La Lucia Tennis Club.
“What is nice is to have a mixture of young and old at the club. In the past six months we have grown from 15 members to 34 members, which is just fantastic.
Everyone is welcome to play, even if they don’t know how to play tennis, they can learn and have fun.”
