Help spread winter warmth

Round Table of Umhlanga appeals for help for Winter Knights project.

THE Round Table of Umhlanga-155 are calling on residents to help spread a little winter warmth this season as they embark on a collective drive for several projects around Durban. Northglen News recently caught up with Chairman of the Umhlanga Round Table, Johan van Ahcterbergh, to find out more about what residents in the area could do to lend a hand.

“We do a lot of work with old age homes, the Khethiwe Rehabilitation Centre and other children’s home in and around Durban. We are appealing to residents for donations of non-perishable items as well as clothes and blankets. Nationally the Round Table has embarked on a Winter Knights campaign by donating blankets to disadvantaged communities. However the need for our projects are somewhat different. Your donated goods will be distributed to cash-strapped charities helping them free up funds they could then put towards something else.

“The success of this campaign lies with the residents who generously donate to the cause. Giving back to the community is extremely important and we would like to spread a little bit of warmth, joy and love this season. We can be contacted for information on drop-off and collection points,” concluded van Ahcterbergh.
