uMhlanga KFC warned to sharpen its standards

Staff at the popular outlet have been warned to 'sharpen' their standards, following the controversy of a knife sharpening video.

THE uMhlanga Ridge KFC was issued a warning after a concerning video went viral last week.

Staff at the Gatemax branch, near Coastlands Hotel, were issued with a written warning, urging them to maintain the franchise’s high standards, said Dough Smart, the KFC Africa managing director.

The video, which allegedly shows an employee sharpening knives on the concrete floor, was originally shared onto the Facebook page, ‘Durban Restaurants – The good, the bad and the nastyyyy!’, which has more than 42 000 members.

On Friday the store (situated on the upper end of Umhlanga Rocks Drive) temporarily closed its doors. However, business seems to have returned to normal as the store was teeming with customers yesterday.
