Still no sign of Skabenga

Staff are still searching for the treasured tomcat after he disappeared on Sunday afternoon.

AFTER more than a day there has still been no sign of the beloved and famous Skabenga cat.

Scores of messages of concern and well wishes have streamed in from members of the public on the tomcat’s Facebook page.

The resident feline at the Oyster Box Hotel in uMhlanga has become an iconic feature, and would generally have been seen lounging around the luxurious hotel.

Skabenga was last spotted on the camera surveillance system on Sunday evening at around 1.30pm, confirmed the hotel spokeswoman, Joanne Hayes, yesterday.

Alarms were raised when the treasured tomcat did not show up for his regular breakfast on Monday morning.

What was most concerning was that Skabenga seemed a bit unwell over the weekend, she said.

An appeal has been made to the public to contact the hotel with any information that could assist with the recovery of  Skabenga.

“We ask that the public only contact us should they have information that could help us locate Skabenga. We are very appreciative with regards to the concern that we have received from the public. Regular updates will be posted onto his Facebook profile,” added Hayes

The feline celebrated his tenth birthday in October last year.  Contact the Oyster Box Hotel on 031 514 5000.
