Three friends hijacked in Durban North

The cars that were hijacked are worth more than two million Rand collectively.

DURBAN North SAPS are looking for a group of armed men who hijacked three friends outside a Ranleigh Crescent home on Friday (8 May) last week. The cars, a Mercedes ML500, a Jaguar and a Renault Megane, were worth more than two million Rand collectively. According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the friends’ ordeal did not end with the hijacking.

“The incident occurred at about 11.15pm. The three men were visiting a friend in Durban North and had parked on the verge when they noticed a black SUV pull up behind them. Two suspects armed with pistols approached the trio and ordered them into the cars. They were made to sit on the floors of the car with their heads facing down.

“The suspects then stopped outside a school in the area and ordered the trio to get out and lie face-down in the grass. The friends just remember hearing them speed off. In all we believe there were five suspects involved,” Deokaran said.

He added police were still looking for the suspects and were following up on leads.
