One dead, four injured in N2 accident

Serious collision between two trucks on the N2 leaves one dead.

A MAN has died and four others have been left seriously injured after two trucks collided on the N2 south bound between the M41 Umhlanga and the M25 Kwamashu Highway this afternoon. It is alleged that one of the trucks was parked in the emergency lane for road maintenance when the second truck lost control and collided with it at high speed.

Crisis Medical spokesman Kyle van Reenen said one of the truck drivers was still entrapped in the vehicle when paramedics arrived.

“The driver was seriously injured and in cardiac arrest. Despite exhausted efforts by our team the man sadly succumbed to his extensive injuries and was declared dead on sceme.

“The second truck involved in the accident was lying on its side with four men believed to be in their thirties having sustained serious injuries. They were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” he said.

He added police would be investigating the cause of the accident. Traffic in both directions was heavily affected.
