ENTRIES for the long-awaited second South African Ironman race, the Standard Bank Ironman 70.3 Durban triathlon on 2 August, are selling fast.

The 1.9km swim, 90.1km bike and 21.1km run will encapsulate some of the best elements of the East Coast City allowing athletes to take in the sights of the breath-taking Durban coastline while on a course that is considered fast and highly competitive.

The race hub is situated at the Suncoast Casino, with Tsogo Sun the official Accommodation partner to the Ironman 70.3 Durban. The Suncoast Casino will become race central consisting of the registration and expo venues, race office and the transition area in the outside car park.

“The bike course along the M4 will have undulating hills but will be fast with a newly tarred surface while the run route is relatively flat. Taking the Ironman 70.3 brand to Durban has been an exciting prospect for us and we look forward to staging a memorable race in a region with a rich triathlon history,” said Paul Wolff, race director.
