One suspect arrested in Durban North stabbing

Hours after the brutal stabbing of two elderly people, police arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the murder.

The suspects face charges of kidnapping, extortion, pointing of a firearm, theft of a cellphone and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A MALE suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of the elderly couple on Riverside Road in Durban North. The bodies, according to Haden Searles of Durban North Umhlanga CPF, were found ‘in the vicinity of the Beachwood Mangroves swamps’ last night.

A single stab wound was found on both bodies.

Searles said police were looking for two other suspects in connection with the brutal murder.

“The male victim is well known. He has been spotted in the area on several occasions. The female is unknown. It is suspected that the victims knew the attackers and that an argument led to the altercation,” he said.
