Rivers Church to host family series

The series, which will run for four consecutive Sundays, will be hosted by Durban North resident, Pastor Dean Ivey.

THE Durban North Rivers Church will be hosting a Family Series, starting on Sunday, 26 April, with the aim of helping residents place the right priorities and values on their families. In addition, it is aimed at creating a healthy home environment where each family member has the opportunity to flourish. The series, which will run for four consecutive Sundays, will be hosted by Durban North resident, Pastor Dean Ivey.

“One of the most undervalued institutions of our modern day society is that of the family. We live in a world where society seems to demand that our life goals become the pursuit of wealth, the advancement of careers, or the increase of power and status.

“More than ever, children are growing up deprived of their most precious requirement – time with mom and dad. Kids don’t need expensive toys and elaborate play items as much as they need quality time with their parents.

“Nothing says ‘I love you’ more to a child than just hanging out with them, doing fun things that don’t have to cost a lot of money, but where there is open and honest communication in an environment that provides affection, attention, and affirmation.

“The reason our society is busy self-destructing is because it needs the family unit to be central to its functionality. Family is the foundation of society, and when it is relegated or replaced, it becomes dysfunctional and eventually fosters a dysfunctional society,” Ivey said.

He added that everyone was welcome and there was no cost involved. The series will run during the three morning services at 7.30am, 9.30am and 11.30am.
