The ‘hate must fall’

Thousands call for an end to xenophobic attacks as they march through Durban.

MORE than 20 000 people marched through the Durban city centre today to show their support, calling for an end to the spate of xenophobic attacks that have swept thought the country.  The attacks that rocked the province in recent days started more than two weeks ago, and have caused panic and fear among foreign nationals.

More than 500 foreign nationals have been housed at the Maurice Benjamin Hall in Greenwood Park alone, and a 14-year-old boy is among the five people killed in the latest spate of attacks.

Internationally-renowned group, Gangs of Ballet,  which is made up of Brad Klynsmith, Hardus de Beer, Jono Rich and Josh Klynsmith, made their way through the crowds, showing their solidarity with the foreign nationals. The Klynsmith brothers live in Durban North, and on their Facebook page the group posted various pictures of the march saying: “Taking a stand and marching through beautiful Durban with fellow South Africans, all in the name of peace for our country. #HateMustFall”
