Protest causes carnage, gridlocked traffic on north Durban roads

There seems to be no end to the carnage that has gripped certain areas of Durban North this morning as protest action continues to flare.

North Coast Road near Rinaldo Road is gridlocked following protest action that has rocked the Avoca and Effingham areas since 2am this morning.

Greewood Park police said they are currently converging at the Mtambo Road Informal Settlement. Traffic on North Coast Road has come to a standstill in both directions.

According to Ward 34 councillor, Deochand Ganesh, the protesters are informal settlement dwellers who are demanding houses.
