Flooding closes Glenashley Library

Staff could not confirm when the facility would reopen, but stated that they hope to have the library up and running by Monday morning.

GLENASHLEY Library has been closed after a flood caused extensive damage to the popular library on Tuesday night.

While the staff can be seen frantically trying to restore the library and its contents, nobody wanted to be quoted as to how the library was flooded.

The library staff confirmed that books, shelves and electronic equipment suffered extensive water damage on both levels of the library. Swelling of the wooden shelves indicates that the water levels had risen ankle-deep during the incident. There was no mention of structural damage.

The majority of the water has been soaked up and disposed of, but staff are still waiting for an electrician, who will check to see if there was electronic damage.

Staff could not confirm when the facility would be reopened, but stated that they hoped to have the library up and running by Monday morning.
