Local trio raises funds for charity

Local lads donate more than R20 000 to local charities.

WHEN Kyle Graham and twin brothers Andile and Ayanda Ngidi, set up their events companies (Grom Events and New School Productions), the focus for them would always be on giving back to the local community. Their companies organise U18 and over 18 parties in the greater Durban area with the aim of raising funds for local charities.

The local lads recently visited the St Martin’s Childrens Home in Glenwood, and joined a number of eateries who donated their time, food and money to the home.

“December is the season of giving and we wanted to continue that theme at the children’s home with other charities. This was about a collaboration between different brands contributing to kids who are less fortunate than us,” explained Kyle.

The local charities also donated R6 500 to the home. Jocelyne Kurtis, secretary of St Martin’s said the children had a great day out. “They were all very excited. They love being spoilt and we are very grateful to everyone who donated their time and effort today,” she said.

What’s more the lads also donated R15 000 among three other charities from their U18 Grom event, namely the Durban & Coast SPCA, the Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC) and the Durban North/uMhlanga Crisis team.

“Our company is also based on a Christian ethos, and we wanted kids attending our events being mindful of those less fortunate than them. So we decided to donate all funds raised to these deserving charities,” Ayanda said.
