Woman threatened with knife in Glen Anil

A woman was accosted by a knife-wielding thug no more than 24 hours prior to the Glen Anil Street shooting.

JUST days after Durban North was rocked by news of a brazen hijacking in La Lucia, which ended in a shootout, details of another incident have emerged.  The shootout claimed the life of one of the hijackers who was shot while trying to escape in Glen Anil Street.

But the day before that it appears as if criminals were active in the same area when a woman was allegedly tied up before the thief demanded her cell phone and laptop at knife-point. The incident occurred in Beech Road, no more than 300 metres from where one of the brazen hijackers was shot and killed.

According to Robin Candy of Greenwood Park CPF, the woman was attacked at 2pm in afternoon by a knife-wielding man. Candy said the thief gained entrance to the property by entering through the main bedroom’s en suite bathroom window.

“He fled before authorities could arrive at the scene. The woman was a shivering mess and had clearly been traumatised. But she still managed to see the suspect run to bottom of the garden and jump over the fence,” said Candy.
On Wednesday a hijacker was shot in the head while another was apprehended after a shootout.

The third man involved in the hijacking was arrested on Thursday morning. He was hiding in a factory on Glen Anil Street.
