Residents robbed at gun point

An Umgeni Park resident and two of his employees were held at gun point after three men strormed into the property that they were renovating on High Grove Road.

A RESIDENT and two employees were left traumatised when they were held at gunpoint while renovating a home on High Grove Road in Umgeni Park on Tuesday, 3 February.

The unsuspecting victims were accosted by three armed men wearing balaclavas in the early afternoon. “The suspects forced the victims to lie down on the floor while holding them at gun point. They demanded jewellery and money,” said Lt Col Zethu Ngobese of Greenwood Park SAPS.

Before fleeing the scene in a grey Mercedes Benz the robbers looted the property. They managed to escape with an undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery and a flat-screen television.

Ngobese added that the suspects were sought in connection with several other robberies in Sydenham, Durban North and Northlands.

“The victim’s descriptions of the vehicle match the description of another vehicle spotted fleeing the scene at several other crime scenes, and we believe that these men were involved in all of the crimes,” she said.
