Security guards shot dead in Effingham

Security guards were allegedly shot at close range by a fellow colleague.

TWO security guards were shot dead at the Effingham Railway Station at about 6.30pm on Thursday evening. Police are searching for the suspect who ran in the direction of the Sim Place informal settlement. It’s believed a dispute between members of the same security company was the reason behind the shooting.

According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the guards were approached by a fellow worker.

“A witness at the scene said the guards were approached by their colleague, who then pulled out a firearm and shot them at close range, killing them. The suspect then left the firearm on the ground and ran towards the informal settlement in Sim Place,” he said.
