Syren twins have each others backs

NGN talks to Crawford College La Lucia twins Matthew and Daniel Syren.

IN popular culture, the concept of twin telapathy has suggested a supernatural ability to communicate without using words. While uMhlanga’s twins Matthew and Daniel Syren can’t attest to this, they certainly have a close bond. The duo recently finished their matric year at Crawford College La Lucia and said the most important thing in having a successful year is to have a solid support base.

“Your parents, teachers and if you have are lucky enough to have a sibling in matric, are massively important when it comes to having people remind you and motivate you to keep going. Our mom often had to tell us to take a break,” Matthew laughed.

Matthew achieved 7As and Daniel 2As, and the local twins were delighted with their marks.

“I was ecstatic with my 91 per cent for business studies result. I want to pursue a business degree so it was fantastic,” Daniel said.

While the twins shared two subjects and studied maths together, they preferred to bond over a game of football.

“Both Daniel and I are massive football fans. Even though he supports Manchester United and I, Chelsea, we’re a quite good friends and it really helped us bond even more,” Matthew said.
