Two murders rock Greenwood Park
Two people were murdered over the festive season in Greenwood Park.
THE festive joy was abruptly halted with the murder of two people in Khabazela Village little more than a week ago.
On Christmas day one of the victims died while allegedly trying to stop a fight between two other individuals.
According to W/O Lutchman Singh, acting communications officer at Greenwood Park SAPS, the man tried to intervene in the fight when he was struck on the head with a knopkierie. The man was rendered unconscious and rushed to a medical facility, where he later died due to the extent of his injuries.
The second murder involved a young woman whose throat had been slit, three days before New Year’s Day. On Sunday, 28 December the woman’s mother was left traumatised when she discovered her daughter’s body lying in a pool of blood.
“The mother had tried to reach her daughter on her cell phone and when she couldn’t get through to her she went to her home in Khabazela Village.
When she peered through the window she saw her daughter’s body,” said Singh. He added that the deceased had been assaulted several days prior to the murder.
