Two injured in Durban North crash

It is believed that the two injured commuters were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

TWO people were left injured after a vehicle allegedly jumped a red traffic light at the intersection of North Coast Road and Blackburn Road on Monday afternoon.

According to Chris Botha of Netcare 911, the offending vehicle collided with a second vehicle after it drove through the intersection. After the collision, one of the vehicles veered off and crashed into a third vehicle which was stationary at the intersection.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to discover two occupants still seated in the wreckage of one of the vehicles. They had both sustained serious injuries and were treated on scene before being transported to Addington Hospital.

“The windshield had large indentations from the people’s heads, indicating that they were unrestrained. The occupants from the other vehicles fortunately escaped uninjured,” said Botha.

He added that it was unclear who was responsible for the collision at that stage. Authorities will be conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
