Celebrating Christmas with Khurshid

"Even though I am Muslim and don't celebrate Christmas, my family and I take advantage of the holidays as a way to spend more time with each other."

WITH Christmas just around the corner, Khurshid Mohideen is excited to spend some quality time with her entire family.

“Even though I am Muslim and don’t celebrate Christmas, my family and I take advantage of the holidays as a way to spend more time with each other,” said Khurshid.

For the past few years they have flown out of the country on Christmas Day to break away from the hustle and bustle that surrounds Durban during the festive season.

“We wake up early in the morning, our bags are packed and when we arrive at the airport it is always delightful to see the carolers and people handing out candy canes. Everyone is very jovial even though they are working,” said Khurshid.

This year her family will be keeping it local and will spend it in Johannesburg with a family member. “We will be having a small family reunion. Even though we don’t celebrate Christmas, we do celebrate the festive season and the joys of being with the ones you love,” said Khurshid.
