Woman pulled into car, robbed on Northway

A woman was robbed by a gang of armed men, after the pulled her into their VW Polo.

A gang of armed robbers forced a woman into their vehicle on Northway Road before they robbed her of her cellphone and other valuables at lunchtime today.The woman was approached by the men after she left the Post Office at 1.39pm. The suspects were driving in silver VW Polo. “The gang warned her to get into their car or they would shoot her. She complied and the men then robbed her of her cellphone, purse and other belongings,” said Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson.

Once the men had secured her belongings they released her, physically unharmed. Safe, but traumatized the woman approached one of the patrolling reaction officers for assistance.

No shots were fired during the incident and no arrests have been made.

Jackson advised women to be vigilant when walking in the street and to limit the amount of cash and valuables being carried. “We advise pedestrians to be careful when slow moving vehicles approach them or stop nearby and to continue walking or cross the road without engaging with the occupants. Unfortunately, in this case the victim was unable to avoid the robbery and she was lucky to escape unharmed,” he said.
