Umhlanga guard makes full recovery

Dino Moodley, the Enforce Guard that was shot in Milkwood Drive after he interrupted a home robbery in October, has made a full recovery.

AFTER spending nearly seven weeks in the hospital, Dino Moodley, the Enforce security guard who was critically wounded during a house robbery in uMhlanga in October, was finally able to return home with his family.

Anthony Feuilherade, Enforce security director, confirmed that Moodley had been released on Wednesday, 26 November. “He is doing well. He is walking and talking. Everyone is thrilled by his immense progress,” said Feuilherade.

Initially the prognoses seemed dire for the father and husband, as doctors raised concerns about his kidneys, which took tremendous strain after the shooting. Moodley had to be put on dialysis. At the same time the resilient fighter also beat a serious lung infection.

The nightmare began when the guard responded to a house break-in, and interrupted the intruders who were ransacking a home. When the criminals spotted Moodley they allegedly opened fire, and he sustained two gunshot wounds. One bullet went straight through his thigh, and the second entered through his buttock and lodged in his stomach. Analysis of the bullet casing at the scene indicated that two suspects opened fire on the guard.

It is a miracle that the heroic guard survived as he was actually declared clinically dead for several minutes at the scene. Fortunately, paramedics were able to revive him

According Feuilherade, Moodley has not been able to provide any additional information that could assist with investigations. “He has very little memory surrounding the incident and only vaguely recalls the vehicle,” said Feuilherade.
