GAINING Twitter followers can seem like an impossible and daunting task for most people, which often discourages them from setting up an account or sending any tweets on their current account. This robs the individual of an opportunity to engage with like minded people from across the world.

Also ensure that your avatar is a photo of you, and not some random object. If you have a random object or the standard egg picture, people will assume that your profile is either a spam or that you are boring.
2. Follow other people first. This might seem counterproductive, but following other people is a fundamental way of engaging with other twitter users. If your profile seems interesting chances are that they will follow you right back.
3. Interact with other users. Retweeting and responding to other people with similar interests will facilitate followers.
4. While regular tweeting is encouraged, is important to remember that quality trumps quantity. Most people only spend a few seconds glancing at your most recent tweets, therefore your profile is only as strong as your last tweet. Ensure that your content is funny, informative and/or thought provoking.
5. Tweet inspirational quotes. If you are stuck and do not have the time to find quality content for your Twitter account a good alternative is to tweet an inspirational quote pertaining to your brand and interests. People enjoy reading and sharing quotes. However, do this sparingly, as people will also expect original content.
6. Comment on relevant tweets, trends or twitter users. This will give you massive exposure and is more likely to attract followers.
7. Direct people to your account by adding a ‘follow me’ link on your website, blogs, other social media and email signature.
