KZN Youth Orchestra calls on aspiring musicians

The KZN Youth Orchestra will be hosting auditions for talented musicians on 15 November.

THE KZN Youth Orchestra will be holding their second round of auditions for new members for next year (2015), at the Durban Music School on Saturday, 15 November from 1.30pm. The Youth Orchestra is made up of young musicians from around KZN. They are looking for young players who are learning to play orchestral instruments. Rehearsals will be held on Friday nights at the Durban Music School in Daikonia Avenue from 4pm to 6.30pm during school terms. Concerts are also arranged to take place on Friday evenings.

Anyone interested in auditioning, needs to be between the ages of 12 and 23, be at grade 3 music level for the Shadow orchestra and grade 5 music level for the main orchestra. Candidates must prepare two contrasting pieces and some scales. You will be allowed to play with or without an accompanist.
