For police spokesman Vincent Mdunge has been found guilty of fraud and forgery.

DURBAN Regional Court magistrate Thandeka Fikeni has found former KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Vincent Mdunge guilty of fraud and forgery over a fake matric certificate.

Fikeni said the state had proved the certificate was not valid, but that the prosecution had not proved beyond reasonable doubt that Mdunge had misrepresented himself when joining the police force as a constable. At the time, special constables only required a Std 8 pass. He was subsequently acquitted on one count of fraud

Mdunge was also acquitted of uttering. He was found guilty of fraud because he had received a salary he was not entitled to. She also found him guilty of a further fraud charge over a fake certificate he had submitted to UNISA for admission to a National Diploma in Police Administration course.
