Pram stolen at La Lucia clinic

A case of theft has been opened at the Durban North SAPS.

A LOCAL resident is furious after the theft of her baby’s pram at the La Lucia Clinic recently. Marlene Pillay said the new pram was snatched while she was in the consulting room. She was asked by security at the clinic to leave her pram outside the consulting room because there was not enough space in the office.

“I left the pram outside the room as the security guard had asked. However when I came out of the consulting room my three week old pram, which cost R5 000, was taken and the security guard was nowhere to be seen.

“When the guard returned to her post I questioned her and she told me she had gone on lunch. I asked why she had not said that in the first place because there was no one watching the pram,” she said.

Pillay said the security company the guard is employed by has also been non-committal in their stance saying they were not responsible.

“The security company need to take responsibility for this theft but I’ve already been told that it is not their problem.”
