Nolan defends his Amashova title in style romping home to his third crown.

DEFENDING champion Nolan Hoffman from Team Abantu was the first man home in the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic on Sunday.

Hoffman, who hails from Franschhoek, crossed the finish line in just 2:25:16 after setting off with a field of just under 12 000 riders from the Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 6.45pm.The first woman to complete the gruelling 106km race was Kim Le Court from Velo Life Time Freight in a time of 2:58:00.

Hoffman, who has now won the Tsogo Sun Amashova three years in a row, said that he was very proud of his team’s efforts.

“I am happy to have pulled off the win again and it shows that doing our homework worked in our favour. We also kept our cool along the route and it came down to the last 500m where we had to act fast and of course my instinct kicked into use all I had to sprint to the finish” he added.

Then in the ladies elite category, Kim Le Court (18) from Mauritius took first place and was very excited being that is was her first big win. “I found this race very challenging and am very grateful to my team for providing me the assistance on the route,” she said.
