Men buried alive after wall collapses in uMhlanga

Two men were left critically injured after they were crushed underneath the rubble of a collapsed wall on uMhlnaga Rocks Drive this morning.

A SUSPECTED freak accident left two people critically injured on Umhlanga Rocks Drive on Wednesday morning.
Although the exact details behind the incident are unclear , Netcare 911 paramedics who were on the scene reported that the two men were trapped under sand and rubble after a wall collapsed.
Santi Steinmann, the media liaison officer, said the men’s co-workers immediately sprung into action and began digging the men from underneath the wreckage.
“Paramedics arrived on scene as the men were removed from under the wall rubble,” she said.After the men were pulled from the weight of the crushing debris paramedics had to perform rapid sequence induction (RSI) on the men, as they were unable to breathe on their own, said Neil Powell, of Crisis Medical.Both men were immobilised on trauma boards and rushed to a local hospital.
