Elderly Durban North woman stabbed in stomach

Elderly resident stabbed, but nothing reportedly taken in Fairway robbery.

AN elderly Durban North resident has been stabbed in an apparent home invasion on Fairway on Thursday morning. According to the police three men entered the property from a dilapidated building next door and surprised the woman, who was in the kitchen at the time. Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, said when police arrived, they were greeted by a grisly scene.

“There was blood splattered all over the floor. Incredibly nothing was reported stolen but the criminals had riffled through various rooms in the house but were disturbed. The four men initially confronted the woman who screamed for help, she was stabbed in the lower abdomen.

“Her daughter who heard her mom’s terrifying screams, and saw two of the men run after her. She locked herself up in one of the rooms and called the police. A Blue Security van patrolling the area, spotted the suspects fleeing the home and gave chase, however the men scattered into the nearby bushes surrounding the M4,” he said.

Deokaran added the K9 unit are currently trying to track the men down.

“According to our reports, the men were young and well dressed. We are still patrolling the area looking for the suspects,” he said.

A case of attempted murder has been opened at the Durban North police station.
