Sanral warns of M41 traffic delays

Traffic along the M41 in Mt Edgecombe will be affected for the next few months while SANRAL completes the construction of a new bridge.

CONSTRUCTION has begun along the M41 and N2 Mt Edgecombe Interchange north of Durban.

THE upgrade, which involves the construction of a new bridge under the M41, will impact traffic on both of the national routes. During the upgrade commuters travelling along the M41 from uMlhanga Rocks towrads the King Shaka Airport, KwaDukuza or Ballito, will not be able to turn right onto the N2.

Motorists will be diverted onto a temporary loop road ramp on the south side (left) of the M41, which will enable them to join the N2 traffic. Traffic toward Phoenix, and towards uMhlanga Rocks, along the M41, will also be slightly diverted away from the construction site, onto a temporary road, south of the M41.

Additionally, motorists traveling from Phoenix, who wish to join the N2 traffic, will also be diverted onto a temporary on-ramp, north of the M41.

According to South African National Road Agency (Sanral) once completed the upgrade will allow traffic on the N2 travelling from Durban to uMhlanga Rocks to pass underneath the M41 before joining the M41.
