Take note of road closures

Get to the SPAR women’s race early to avoid traffic.

WITH the SPAR Women’s 10/5km race around the corner, people have been urged to try and get to the race site early and use the open public spaces to meet and socialise.

The race will take place on Sunday 24 August at the Sahara Stadium in Durban and getting there early will mean that it will help solve the traffic congestion as there will be 17 500 runners.

All roads around the start/finish area will be closed from 4am. From 2am on Sunday, organisers will start closing off the Snell Parade/Blue Lagoon area.

All main roads are expected to be re-opened by 11am. Road access to the Sahara Stadium will remain closed until 12pm.

In order to ease traffic congestion the following parking is recommended on the race day (There is free parking along the beachfront 900 metres from the start)

1. The International Convention Centre (ICC) (undercover) – recommended access on Bram Fischer Road. (400 metres)

2. Centrum Parking (opposite the Durban Exhibition Centre) (open) – recommended access via Samora Machel Street. (350 metres)

3. The Workshop (undercover and open) – recommended access from Samora Machel Street. (620 metres)

4. SunCoast recommended access from Sandile Thusi (Argyle Road) then left into Sylvester Ntuli (Brickhill Road extension) (1.8 km)

*Each of these parking areas has their own fee structure and are not contracted to the event.
