Taxi driver fight leads to stabbing

Fight over passengers leads to argument and then stabbing.

A TAXI driver has been given R500 bail after stabbing another driver from a rival organisation recently. Robin Naicker (48) allegedly stabbed the driver just outside Gateway on the 10 August because the duo got into an altercation involving passengers.

“Both men belong to metered taxi companies and one accused the other of muscling in on a passenger. An argument broke out and a fight ensued. One of the men then pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed his rival in the back,” Lt Raymond Deokaran, SAPS spokesman said.

Earlier this year taxi violence erupted after an alleged hit on the chairman of the KwaDukuza Taxi Association, Sanele Zondi (36) took place at the intersection of Kenneth Kaunda (Northway) and Swapo (Broadway) Road.
