SO your cellphone is stolen, you panic because the device almost never leaves your sight. It contains your banking details, the numbers of more than 250 contacts, important sms’s and emails and treasured memories in the form of pictures taken on your smart phone.
So when local company Marshall Security received a call that one of clients’ cell phone had been stolen at a night club on Saturday night, they stepped into action with some help of a sophisticated tracking device.
“The cellphone had a tracking application activated. The phone was initially signaling in the Phoenix area before moving through Inanda to a location in Amaoti where it stopped moving,” the company said on its Facebook page.
They made their way to the location and the residents that were pinpointed by the tracking device denied that they had anything to do with the theft. But the tracking device that the security guards had was telling a different story – the stolen cell phone was in the house.
“One of the residents subsequently exited the home and tried to dispose of a bag by throwing it into the bush nearby.Inside the bag, officers found the cellphone, as well as the suspect’s wallet, phone and ID, which in their haste the suspect had forgot to remove. The phone was handed back to the owner who was very happy that we managed to recover it.”
