Domino takes action on Mandela Day

Here's some awesome action stations to join on International Nelson Mandela Day. Also, let us know what you're getting up to during your 67 minutes.

THE Domino Foundation has called on Durban North residents’ and companies’ goodwill in celebration of International Mandela Day on Friday, 18 July.

Join the foundation at 125 and 127 Adelaide Tambo Drive (Kensington Drive) in Durban North to spend your 67 minutes Taking action, Inspiring change and serving your local community

“We are setting up a number of action stations on our two adjacent properties. You have the option to participate in a number of activities, so pick an action station, take your items, and put everything together on the day. Hampers will be put together on the day and distributed by The Domino programmes,” said Domino’s marketing manager, Shaun Tait.

The foundation will also have a donation station where residents can drop off spare clothes, blankets, shoes and project items over and above their chosen activity.

“So clean out your cupboards, get your colleagues to do the same and bring along some extra donations on the day,” Tait added.

Action Station 1: Sarmie stacks.

HELP Domino Foundation reach its target of making 670 sandwiches to feed 670 orphaned and vulnerable children in our community. Take along these items for a team of 10:
• Seven loaves of bread.
• One kilogram margarine tub.
• Four 800g peanut butter.
• Company flags, t-shirts and caps are welcome.
• Extra donations of peanut butter and mayonnaise for the foundation’s feeding programme will be appreciated.

Action Station 2: Holiday hampers

WITHIN the community the foundation distributes to needy families, throughout local schools and the feeding programme.
Each parcel is valued at R500 and consists of various groceries and toiletry items.
• Please note: If you select this action station, please ensure you have purchased the necessary items beforehand to sort, package and wrap your hamper on the day.

Action Station 3: Jerseys in July

THIS winter has been harsh on the community, so why not donate blankets, jerseys and tracksuits. Domino needs to collect and sort out jerseys by size at the Jersey’s in July station. Take:
• A handful of friends.
• A jersey, two or three (all sizes welcome).
• Blankets, shoes and tracksuits.
• Your company flags, t-shirts and caps are welcome.

• Babies Home: Formula/milk (NAN), small nappies (sizes one, two and three) and winter baby-grows without hoods.
• Feeding Programme: Peanut butter, mayonnaise, dried soup mix, garden spades and forks.
• Life Skills: Sports equipment and sports kits (netball, soccer, aerobics), sanitary items (Amaoti girls club).
