Electricity thieves leave municipal dump in the dark

Electricity thieves have left the eThekwini Municipality's dump in the dark for more than a month.

ELECTRICITY thieves have struck yet again in Malacca Road, leaving the municipal dump without power for more than a month.

Greenwood Park CPF reported that at 11pm on the Sunday, 13 July the Glenhills Neighbourhood Watch removed 200 metres of stolen cables which were connected to pole 42 in Malacca Road.

The stolen cables were handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS.

“This is now the third time since June that we have done this. We thank Marshall Security for the backup they have provided us on each of these occasions,” the CPF said on its Facebook page.

As a result of these illegal connections, the Redhill Metro Dump has been without electricity for more than a month.

“The above has been reported to the electricity department, but to date no repairs have been done,” they said in the post.
