About the author

GERRY trained as a teacher at the St Mary’s Teachers’ Training College in Twickenham after his military service in the Far East. 

Although he never formally attended university, he obtained a BA degree in modern languages from the University of London, a BEd degree from the University of Southampton. a MEd degree from the University of North Wales and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Cape Town. 

The flamboyant Irishman became an activist against Apartheid during a visit to South Africa where he has settled down on the sunny and warm North Coast with his wife, Charlotte.
