Avoca resident hijacked outside vegetable stall

The armed gang is believed to have been involved in another hijacking, using a black Mini Cooper with a white roof, which took place earlier this month.

THREE armed men hijacked an Avoca resident after he stopped to buy vegetables from a stall on Umhlangane Road yesterday. The incident occurred at about 1pm. The suspects were driving a black Mini Cooper, with a white top, which is suspected to have been used in a hijacking earlier this month.  The men pointed their handguns at the resident and ordered him to step away from his car.

Though they managed to make off with the resident’s Toyota Corolla, Greenwood Park SAPS later recovered the vehicle in KwaMashu (P section) last night.

In the incident on Umhlanga Rocks Drive two weeks ago, four men hijacked a resident outside the KFC. The vehicle was also later recovered in Mandini.

According to the Greenwood Park CPF, the Mini Cooper had Gauteng registration plates and was reported stolen from Pinetown last month.
