BMX siblings shine at nationals

"I love to cycle, it’s fun and you get to go really fast and the girls dig it too" BMX sibling says.

THE Pieters’s Sunningdale home is a mini shrine to the sport of BMX. The garage is brimming with BMX gear, from helmets to spare chains to a host of bikes, there main computer has been used to watch hours and hours of Youtube BMX clips, indeed the only thing missing, is a track.

However, that doesn’t stop brothers Matthew and Connor who use the driveway of their home as one of the training grounds.

The duo recently took home silver and bronze respectively at the first leg of the BMX NAG nationals. When quizzed as to why they like BMX racing, Matthew’s answer is simple.

“I just love to ride, it’s fun and you get to go really fast and the girls dig it too” he said.

His brother Connor who is also fearless out on the track said he dreams of representing South Africa. “I want to keep on winning and improving on my performances this year,” Connor said.

Both Matthew and Connor are part of the Lahee Park BMX club and are aiming for repeat performances at the second leg of the national competition in Kempton Park.

“It’s going to be tough but we’re hoping to match our performances or go one better and take home the gold,” Matthew said.

  1. We think this is incredible. Well done for covering this story guys! We are also a Durban based magazine dedicated to bringing exposure to those who need a bit of a BOOST. It would be greatly appreciated if you could pass on the details of the parents for the boys so we could possibly do a cover story on them as well. Lets give these boys all the exposure they could possibly get to fulfill their dream. Thank you, Clint September (Boost Magazine)
