Easter trail run a success

New winners in both men's and women's uMhlanga trail run.

TWO new faces graced the podium of the ever popular uMhlanga Easter Trail Run. The Highway’s Claude Eksteen cantered to an easy victory in the men’s 15km race while the Bluff’s Jetaime Ribbink won the women’s 15km race.

MORE than 450 entrants competed in the fourth uMhlanga Easter run and walk and this was an added boost said race organiser, Buzz Bolton.

“Considering all the sporting events that coincided with the Easter run, it was a remarkable turnout. The course route was changed up from last year and there was a lot of positive feedback from the athletes,” he enthused.

“uMhlanga is fortunate to have so many trail options in close proximity. All eyes are now focused on the next event in the series.”

Bolton said this years race had an added element of fun with the uMhlanga lagoon crossing.

“Because the estuary was blocked, the lagoon level was at its highest on race day. The Bronze Beach lifeguards came to the rescue with a dingy and a jet ski and ferried around 400 runners across it.”
