Justin bags silver at world champs

Natural bodybuilder has now decided to take a years break to improve on his physique and conditioning.

AFTER muscling his way to his second Bodybuilding SA Champs trophy (BBSA) Men’s Classic) last year, Glen Anil resident, Justin Thacker had his mind set on showing the world what South African bodybuilders had to offer.

After being selected for the SA squad for the IFBB World Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Austria in December, Justin bagged silver. Northglen News caught up with him recently to find out about his second place finish.

“Up until the final results were announced I had tried to not put too much energy into what the outcome or my placing would be. I was just so focused on the task at hand and taking it all in. In the back of my mind I had every intention of improving on my 2012 third place finish and surpassing the condition I had achieved back then.

“As the results were announced I was very disappointed that I had not won, as I had come so close to the goal. But I was reminded that moving up one spot in 2013 and being considered the second best in the world was a massive achievement,” he enthused.

Justin added winning the silver medal also reconfirmed that he has what it takes to win gold for South Africa. He’s now taking a year off to improve on his world champs finish.

“Having accessed photos from the contest and from feedback I’ve had from my coach, trusted friends and fellow competitors, I decided to take this year off to make the necessary improvements. I’m aiming for the World Champs at the end of 2015 with the goal of winning that elusive gold medal,” he said.
