Family reunited with beloved pooch

Family's five month old pooch found safe and sound after being snatched outside their Durban North home.

THE air of despondency and heartbreak in the van Rensburg household has been replaced by celebratory smiles and unbridled joy after the safe return of the family’s five month old Yorkshire Terrier, Snuffels. It was Facebook, used by millions across the world, that saved the day.

After the story was shared on Facebook, the social media engine started working. By Tuesday, just five days later, Snuffels had been found.

Thea van Rensburg, along with her daughters Nicola and Theane, thanked the Durban North community and all those who shared their pleas via social media networks.

The beloved pooch was snatched by an unknown woman outside their Savell Avenue home and after pleading for the safe return of Snuffels, the family received the fateful call that he was safe and was handed into a Westville vet last week.

“When I recieved the call, I was hoping and praying it was good news and that he was safe. The vet sent me a picture and it was Snuffels. His identification tags had been removed but he was healthy and unhurt. I’d like to thank the Durban North community and everyone who helped us by sharing our story on Facebook,” Thea said.

Her daughter Theane, said: “It’s so exciting. This is like better than Christmas presents under the tree. Snuffels did not stop wagging his tail when he saw us.”
