Ex-boyfriend dumps youngster’s body in sugarcane field

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for the gruesome murder of his ex-girlfriend.

KIMEERA Rajbunsi died last week at the hands of a young man she once loved. After being brutally assaulted and stabbed, the 17-year-old girl’s body was dumped in a local sugarcane field.

According to police her body was found in a pool of water in Glen Anil. Rajbunsi’s mother returned home from work on Monday 3 March to a scene that could only be described as utter chaos.

According to the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial SAPS communication office, Rajbunsi’s mother arrived at her Woodview home at 5.35pm and noticed that her daughter was not at home.  She noticed that the gate was left opened. She also saw a broken frying pan and three broken glasses and noticed that blood had been cleaned up with a mop.

“Her mother realised that something bad happened because her cellphone was left behind. A case of kidnapping was opened at Phoenix SAPS,” said Cpt Thulani Zwane.
Phoenix SAPS officers followed up on information received and arrested 21-year-old Sholin Bissoon who is believed to be Rajbunsi’s ex-boyfriend.
Reports indicate that Bissoon assaulted Rajbansi with a frying pan and then stabbed her six times.

Bissoon confessed and pointed out where he had dumped her body: a sugarcane field in Glen Anil.  He appeared in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of kidnapping and murder and he is expected to make his next court appearance soon.

Provincial commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, said she was delighted with the speedy arrest of the 21-year-old. She commended the Phoenix officers for the arrest.
