A world of fantasy and fun at storytelling afternoon

Celebrate World Read Aloud Day with uMhlanga Library on Wednesday 5 March.

A WORLD of fantasy and fun awaits local children at uMhlanga Library every Wednesday afternoon from 3pm to 4pm, but 5 March is specially important as the library will celebrate World Read Aloud Day.

It is an awareness day that advocates literacy as a right that belongs to all people and is celebrated around the world annually on the first Wednesday in March.

World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teenagers, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words, especially those words that are shared from one person to another.

Resident storyteller and crafter at uMhlanga Library, Louise Frolec, will be only one of the many exciting storytellers lined up for the afternoon.

“We invite children from the ages of five to 10 to spend the afternoon with us. Each child will receive a goodie bag on the day and refreshments will be served,” said the library’s Veni Reddy.

Entry is free, but booking a seat is essential. uMhlanga Library is situated at shop 23 at Lighthouse Mall. To book contact Beatrice Khuzwayo on 031 561 6433.
