Greenwood SAPS launches mobile station

Greenwood Park Police Station welcomes the donation of a mobile station.

GREENWOOD Park Police Station’s job has been made a lot easier thanks to a welcome donation by the Edcon Group in the form of a mobile station.

“In light of Greenwood Park Police Station having such a huge precinct, and some areas being far away from the station, there’s been a great demand from the community for police to be more accessible,” said Lt Elvis Naidoo, spokesman for Greenwood Park SAPS.

He said due to the lack of transport, some residents have to make up to two trips to get to the station.

“But thanks to the partnership between the Edcon Group and National SAPS, Greenwood Park Police Station now has a mobile station, which will travel to the further areas of the station’s precinct if and when needed,” Lt Naidoo added.

According to Lt Naidoo, the trailer, which is worth about R90 000, will make it possible for local residents to open cases, process and certify documents, get affidavits, as well as advice on legal matters.

“It will also be used during crime awareness campaigns throughout the year. It now gives us the opportunity to be more visible in communities and to reach more people than we previously could,” Lt Naidoo concluded.
