MUM’S Aide will host a holiday club this December holiday at Northwood Crusaders Sports Club, 10 Ranleigh Crescent, Durban North.

Arts and crafts, organised play and games, snacks, lunch and juice for children will be on offer. The holiday club is open to children between the ages of three and 12. There will be age appropriate activities (arts and crafts, puzzles, Lego, dress-up, play-dough, balls, games, hula hoops etc) to keep them busy and entertained. Advance booking is essential as space is limited. The holiday clubs run from 9 December to 13 December, 17 December to 20 December, 23, 24 and 27 December, 2 and 3 January and 6 January to 10 January from 7.30am to 1pm. MUM’S Aide, together with Upgrade, will run a drop and shop holiday club in La Lucia Mall this December holiday. The drop and shop will be a safe, fun and convenient holiday care option for La Lucia Mall Shoppers. The Upgrade Classrooms (downstairs in the Banking Mall) will be the venue for parents to drop off their children while they run some errands.There will be toys, arts and crafts, stories and play dough for the children to engage with while under supervised care. The drop and shop club is from 10 December to 15 December, 17 December to 22 December,24 and 27 December, 2 January to 5 January and 7 January to 12 January from 2pm to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 2pm on weekends. OODLES of attractions, cool interactive experiences and EDUtainment is the name of the game at uShaka Kids World this holiday.

At Little Fry’s, children can stick and paste and test their skills at painting to create works of art to show off to their friends. There is also other fun attractions like the On Da Block Go Building Lounge and Riggadees Dough Café. Parents and children are also invited to some amazing shows at the Castaways Amphitheatre, such as the Fisherman’s Tale and can meet the Ocean Warrior Mascots. Plus, during the special bird talks, they will hear all about the well-known Kids World flying friends, Barnacle and Periwinkle, the green winged macaws and a few new friends to add a special touch. The latest addition to uShaka are the rats and hamsters who have settled in quite nicely in their home.

When it’s time to release some energy, there’s Africa’s largest jungle gym, which will make the little ones feel on top of the world and for the action heroes, there is a water canon zone setup to ambush sailors passing by on the Duzi River. For the little explorers, check out Crabby Beach, a sand pit extraordinaire that just happens to have hidden dinosaur bones for children to find, as well as the ultra-mysterious Black Skulls Treasure Cave. For a little fun in the sun, there’s a new aqua adventure at Splish Splash Sprinkler Island that comes complete with the Huggies Rock World.

And when it’s chill time, Lazy Lizards Movie Lounge is the place to be with the Disney Channel, PlayStation and Xbox to keep the children entertained while parents take a breather at the Duzi River Lounge. Painting is at 9.30am, 11am, 12.45pm, 2.30pm and 4pm. Stick and paste is at 10am, noon, 1.15pm, 3.15pm and 4.30pm. Stage Games are at 10am, 11am, 12.15pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. The live bird talk is at 10.30am and 2.30pm. The Mascot Show is at 11.45am and 3.30pm, while block building classes are at 1.05pm.

THE SUNzone at Suncoast Casino, Hotels & Entertainment hosts the children’s show, Criss Cross Christmas, from 7 to 24 December.

It’s the perfect way to ring in the Christmas cheer this holiday season. The show appeals to children from the ages of four to 12 years old. The show will be very interactive, something for the whole family to enjoy. The play will also feature festive songs and will get the young audience involved and entertained. Criss Cross Christmas will be performed by Durban actors Bryan Hiles, Marc Kay and Clare Mortimer. The story involves three odd characters: Noel, a self-absorbed and perpetually ravenous reindeer; Carole, a selfish and gift-grabbing foot-stomping fairy, and little Holly, a well-meaning and long-suffering elf who bears the brunt of the others’ tempers and demands, all the while trying to infuse them with the true spirit of the season. Thursday 19 December children will make Christmas baubles to decorate their Christmas trees. On Friday 20 December come dressed in fancy dress for the Christmas Parade. There will be great prizes to be won. On Saturday 21 December Father Christmas visits the bookstore. Post your letter to Father Christmas in the store’s North Pole Post Box.
