BONKERS: My Life in Laughs by Jennifer Saunders (published by the Penguin Group), is the hilarious, touching life story of the iconic comedian.

You know Jennifer as the eccentric, champagne-swigging, shopaholic, bad mother, Edina, in the TV series Ab Fab.

Her memoirs are hilarious, touching, moving and jovial with her joie de vive simply leaping off the pages.

She relates her adventures that include accidentally enrolling on a teacher training course with a young Dawn French, bluffing her way to each BBC series, shooting Lulu, trading wild faxes with Joanna Lumley, touring India with Ruby Wax and Goldie Hawn.

There a serious cancer scare, too, which handles with brave practicality and little drama. She seems to have lived a full and jolly life without plan o schedule, seemingly finding herself in situateions and places with interesting people.

Saunders is a comedian, writer and actress. She has won three Baftas (including the Bafta Fellowship), an International Emmy, a British Comedy Award, a Rose d’Or, two Writers’ Guild Awards and a People’s Choice Award.

She has also a certificate for coming third in the discus at the Northwich Area Sports championships, and numerous rosettes for clear round jumping and gymkhana on her pony.

She lives in Devon and London with her husband, Adrian Edmondson. She has three grown daughters and a whippet called Olive. She has recently become a grandmother. Bonkers is her first book and a fun read.
