Quartet targets local liquor store

Though it's not a trend, Durban North SAPS has warned liquor owners to be wary of quartet targeting shops in the area.

DURBAN North SAPS has warned liquor store owners to be on the look out for four people (three women and one man) who were involved in stealing more than R500 worth of alcohol from a shop in Durban North. While there isn’t a pattern of robberies, Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the station, said there had been a group operating in the Durban North area previously using the same modus operandi.

“In this case the group walked around the shop and CCTV footage shows the women putting bottles of whiskey and vodka into their handbags.

”Their modus operandi may involve one of the suspects distracting the shop owner or the cashier while the others stash the alcohol bottles in their bags,” he said.

Deokaran urged liquor store owners who spot suspicious groups to contact the police on 031 560 8004.
